An Integrated Approach for Model-Based Systems and Software Engineering
Jacques DUYSENS, 47 years old, obtained his Civil Engineer Diploma in Electricity & Mechanics, and in Aerospace, from the University of Liège (Belgium) with the highest distinction. His prior responsibility was as R&D Engineer in Powertrains Groups dynamics at RENAULT SA (France) in 1990. Three years later, he served as Director of the Simulation of Manufacturing Processes department (Assembly & Machining) within the Mechanical Process Direction.
Overview
Abstract
In many industries, major innovations are based on the development of sophisticated cyberphysics sytems often integrating and coupling mechanics, electronics, and embedded software.
In this seminar, the following concepts will be addressed :
- Complex cyberphysics systems concept
- Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) Concept
- ANSYS MBSE Tools
- ANSYS integrated complex multi-physics and multi-domain systems modeling and simulation platform
- Integration of reduced-order models (ROMs) within global system modeling (coupling of 3D and 0D/1D physical models)
It will also be shown how simulation-based analysis (hierarchical approach) can be used within a certification process.
These concepts will be demonstrated on industrial applications such as:
- Electromechanical flight controls
- Hybrid electric powertrain control
- Aircraft environmental control system
- Safety analysis of batteries
Brief Biography
Jacques DUYSENS, 47 years old, obtained his Civil Engineer Diploma in Electricity & Mechanics, and in Aerospace, from the University of Liège (Belgium) with the highest distinction.
His prior responsibility was as R&D Engineer in Powertrains Groups dynamics at RENAULT SA (France) in 1990. Three years later, he served as Director of the Simulation of Manufacturing Processes department (Assembly & Machining) within the Mechanical Process Direction. In 1996, he was appointed Powertrains Groups Assemblies Structural Analysis Department Director within the Mechanical (Strategy & Advanced Projects) Direction. In 2000, he joined GDTech France (a subsidiary of the Belgian ISV Samtech) as General Manager, and in 2004, CS Communication & Systems Group as Director of the Operational Centre for Scientific Simulation. In 2005, he served as Director of Energy and Industry Division, and became Chief Technical Chief Technical Officer for the Aerospace, Energy & Industry Activity Direction.
He joined HPC Project (became SILKAN) in 2011, as Vice President, in charge of Simulation Activities. In January 2012, he was appointed General Manager of SILKAN GROUP, and Chief Operating Officer of SILKAN Solutions, Inc. (Canada), in charge of Simulation activities, R&D & Product Strategy, Business Development for North America Market.
He is currently (since January 2015) the Systems Business Unit Director for EMEA in ANSYS Inc.
Jacques DUYSENS is Member of the Scientific Council of the French Competitiveness Cluster Systematic Paris-Region (Working Group System Design and Development Tools); Board Member of the French Center for High Performance Computing TER@TEC; Member of Research Committee of CRIAQ (Montréal (QC, Canada); Member of several professional societies including ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) and IACM (International Association for Computational Mechanics).
Jacques DUYSENS has been lecturing in France for more than 20 years at Ecole Centrale de Lyon and in Pôle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci – he’s also Advisor to the President - in Numerical Design, multiscale & multiphysics simulation techniques and in High Performance Computing. He has also given numerous seminars and short courses in the USA, particularly in the University of Texas in Austin, in the University of Arizona in Tucson, in the University of Colorado in Boulder and also in the Los Alamos National Lab in New Mexico. He is the author of more than 50 referenced publications in international journals and in proceedings of international congresses in the following fields: high performance computing, multi-physics and multiscale simulations, verification and validation, finite element models updating, virtual reality and high performance visualization, systems modeling and simulation, embedded real-time software for critical applications.
